CHAPTER VII DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

A. DEFINITION

Descriptive text is a text to describe a particular/specific  person, animal, and thing. (=Teks deskriptif adalah teks untuk menggambarkan orang, binatang, dan benda tertentu)

B. GENERIC STRUCTURE (STRUKTUR TEKS)

1. 1. Identification (=Identifikasi/pengenalan)
2. 2. Description (=Deskripsi/ Gambaran)
3.     a. Appearance (=Penampilan)
4. b. Behavior/Personality (=Sifat)
5. c. Habits (=Kebiasaan)
6. d. Special/unique features (=Ciri-Ciri Khusus)
7. e. Conclusion/opinion (=Kesimpulan)

     Keterangan:
     Poin nomor 2 dipilih yang bisa digunakan. 

C. LANGUAGE FEATURES (CIRI-CIRI KEBAHASAAN)

1. The use of specific nouns (kata benda tertentu) such as my teacher, Mrs. Dewi, Budi’s cat, etc.
2. The use of the Simple Present Tense. 
3. The use of adjectives (kata sifat) for describing such as beautiful, cute, strong, etc.
4. The use of detailed noun phrase (=Frase benda yg rinci), e.g. She is a sweet young lady.

D. MODEL OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Agnes Monica is a famous pop singer. Most people in Indonesia know her.

She certainly looks like an angel. She is tall, slim and beautiful. Her hair is black. She always wears fashionable clothes.

Her personality is as good as her voice. She is confident. She is also generous. She gives a lot of money to charity. 

Her hobby is unique. She keeps a dog as a pet. She does not like cooking.

She is really the Indonesian diva.
